After her divorce, Norlin was determined to build a new home and a more stable future for herself and her two children. At the time, the family was living in a two-room rental flat. She pursued a CPF transfer in place of a monetary maintenance arrangement and made repeated efforts with HDB to secure a home for her family. She eventually succeeded in moving into a four-room flat with her children.

Norlin later joined DOT's Confidence Curriculum, while DOT explored other employment options with her. She subsequently moved into a new role that offered a higher salary and greater flexibility to attend court proceedings.

Her story is one of rebuilding stability for herself and her children, and finding the confidence and support to move forward.

Siti Aishah was one of the first women DOT supported through a livelihood opportunity. Referred by her social worker at NUH, she was unable to pursue work outside the home while managing chronic health conditions affecting both herself and her son.

Aishah had a passion and talent for sewing, and DOT worked with her to turn that interest into a livelihood opportunity. She was connected to a home-based role making soft toys, allowing her to work around her circumstances while earning a stable monthly income.

Her work became an important source of purpose and support through her health challenges, and her passion for sewing was evident in the products she created.

Sharifah is a single mother to a daughter with special needs. After her daughter was diagnosed, Sharifah was unable to secure employment for a year while balancing her responsibilities as a caregiver.

Through DOT's Confidence Curriculum, Sharifah was connected with a caregiving role that gave her the opportunity to work while being able to spend more time with her daughter.

Her journey reflects the challenge of balancing caregiving and employment, and the importance of finding work that can accommodate the realities of family life.

Shaila's journey has been shaped by a long and difficult battle to maintain a relationship with her daughter. After separating from her husband, she returned to Bangladesh and made repeated trips back to Singapore as she sought custody and access to her child.

With no family support in Singapore, Shaila eventually sought assistance from a women's shelter and was referred to DOT. She completed DOT's Confidence Curriculum and was subsequently supported in obtaining a work permit and employment as a Home-care Assistant with Lions Befrienders.

She also pursued part-time higher education while continuing to work towards her goals. Her journey reflects her determination to keep moving forward despite the challenges she faced.

After her mother-in-law passed away, Tiwik left her previous job to focus on caring for her family. As she looked for a way to return to work while managing her responsibilities at home, her social worker at Hope Family Service Centre introduced her to DOT and encouraged her to attend its workshops.

With DOT's support and an understanding of her interests, Tiwik was connected to an opportunity in the beauty sector with Sephora, where she was offered a part-time Beauty Advisor role.
